Judge Sam Bluedorn grew up in Warren, the son of a police officer and Warren City School worker. After graduating with a BA from Kent State University, the Judge joined the United States Marine Corp reserves while working for both the Akron and Canton city prosecutor’s office. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law in 1992.
Judge Bluedorn served as an Assistant Prosecutor for the City of Warren’s Law Department before going into private practice. Licensed in both the State of Ohio and in federal court, Judge Bluedorn’s twenty-five years in private practice included both a public defender’s contract, and later he earned a sharp reputation as a skilled and respected criminal attorney practicing law successfully in every court in Trumbull County. His diverse legal experience in domestic, criminal, probate, juvenile and civil law allows Judge Bluedorn to apply a multifaceted approach in the Trumbull County Family Court.
As a third generation United States Marine, Judge Bluedorn believes in service to his country and community. That’s why he became an Accredited Veteran’s Administration attorney, served on the Executive Committee for the Trumbull County Bar Association, and as a Certified Grievance Committee member and past Chair as well as former member and Vice Chair of the Howland Township Board of Zoning Appeals .
His legal experience allows him to understand the importance and gravity that each decision holds. His life experience guides him to be firm yet empathetic in his decisions for the families in our proud community.
